Interest groups

Hello, I am ninon Laurent and I would like to talk about interest groups and their effect on Congress.

Interest groups have a national influence on politics today, even though Americans don't understand them.

An Interest group is an organized group of individuals that have one goal in common and try to make it an interest for members of Congress. They also have normally one main focus. For example the NRA they are the National Rifle Association which focus on gun-friendly laws. They also do research in the field of their goal to bring to the Congress members to appeal to their beliefs. They also try to put direct pressure on elected officials and they also donate money to people who are going to be elected.

The ideological perspective of this interest group is Far liberal. We can tell this by looking at the evidence stated ¨ The Affordable Care Act provides Americans with the peace of mind that comes from knowing that if they need affordable, comprehensive health care, they can get it.¨  This is a far liberal thing to say because Solid liberals believe in helping everyone and making the government legislation that can be helpful to its people. The author of this passage uses logos and pathos like when they use facts to back up the appeals to emotions, the author puts facts that appeal to logos and pathos. This is a quote that shows the logos aspect of this article¨ The high cost of health coverage has traditionally kept as many as 48 million Americans out of health insurance.¨  This shows logos because it is a fact and not an opinion based answer.  There is another quote that shows the pathos aspect,¨Passed in 2010, the Affordable Care Act now gives Americans new opportunities to get affordable, high-quality, comprehensive health coverage—many for the first time in their lives.¨ The reason this shows pathos is that it gives this kind of emotion that they are so sweet and this is amazing.    One possible cultural influence on the point of view of the author/interest group is the impact of having people who are not able to get health care because of how expensive it is. The cultural interest is possibly the other members with there opinions that start shaping the way you think about politics.
